It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of one of our beloved Simply Youth Institute family members, Amiya Varble.
Amiya was more than a student leader — she was a visionary, an artist, and a radiant light whose spirit illuminated every room she entered. She inspired those around her with her unshakable authenticity, her fierce compassion, and her deep commitment to creating a world where every young person felt seen, valued, and supported.
Her passing is a devastating reminder that while services and programs matter, what our young people need most is to be truly seen and accepted for who they are. Amiya lived with her heart wide open, and it is our collective responsibility to honor that openness with action — by building stronger systems of care, connection, and community.
Amiya’s story is not a statistic. It is a call to each of us — a call to listen, to notice, to hold space, and to fight for youth who feel unseen. Her dreams of supporting other teens experiencing homelessness and systemic barriers will not fade. They will live on through our continued work.
In her memory, Simply Youth Institute will deepen our efforts to build pathways of hope and belonging for young people in crisis. Amiya’s vision will serve as a blueprint for new initiatives that center youth voice, strengthen mental health supports, and ensure that no young person ever feels alone in their struggle.
We remember Amiya not only for her brilliance, creativity, and leadership, but also for the way she challenged us to be better — more compassionate, more aware, more human.

Es con el mayor pesar que compartimos el fallecimiento de uno de nuestros queridos miembros de la familia de Simply Youth Institute, Amiya Varble. Amiya era más que una líder estudiantil: era una visionaria, una artista y una luz radiante cuyo espíritu iluminaba cada habitación en la que entraba. Ella inspiró a quienes la rodeaban con su autenticidad inquebrantable, su feroz compasión y su profundo compromiso de crear un mundo donde cada joven se sintiera visto, valorado y apoyado.
Su fallecimiento es un recordatorio devastador de que, si bien los servicios y programas son importantes, lo que más necesitan nuestros jóvenes es que sean verdaderamente vistos y aceptados tal como son. Amiya vivió con el corazón muy abierto y es nuestra responsabilidad colectiva honrar esa apertura con acción, construyendo sistemas más sólidos de atención, conexión y comunidad.
La historia de Amiya no es una estadística. Es un llamado para cada uno de nosotros: un llamado a escuchar, a notar, a mantener el espacio y a luchar por los jóvenes que se sienten invisibles. Sus sueños de apoyar a otros adolescentes que se encuentran sin hogar y con barreras sistémicas no se desvanecerán. Vivirán gracias a nuestro trabajo continuo.
En su memoria, Simply Youth Institute profundizará nuestros esfuerzos para construir caminos de esperanza y pertenencia para los jóvenes en crisis. La visión de Amiya servirá como modelo para nuevas iniciativas que centren la voz de los jóvenes, fortalezcan los apoyos a la salud mental y garanticen que ningún jóven se sienta sólo en su lucha.
Recordamos a Amiya no sólo por su brillantez, creatividad y liderazgo, sino también por la forma en que nos desafió a ser mejores: más compasivos, más conscientes y más humanos.
Sigue bailando, querida Amiya. Tu espíritu sigue vivo en cada joven que levantamos, en cada historia que amplificamos y en cada espacio que transformamos. Nuestros corazones y oraciones están con la familia, los amigos y las muchas vidas de Amiya que ella tocó.
